To be clear, the other books in this series are MUCH better. If I wanted a good fiction book, this would be a good story of a woman dealing with the end of an abusive relationship and moving on. However, for a romance, this isn’t what I want at all. Grant is amazing, but Ana is one of the most selfish heroines I’ve ever read. Her only caring about herself and being completely oblivious to Grant’s feelings extends way too far into the book. Her relationship with Jason and talking about him extends way too far into the book - once again, for a romance. Perhaps due to this, I didn’t feel any chemistry or the growth of a relationship or love between the two of them. She’s also worried about how it will appear that she moves from one hockey player to the next but... that’s what she does. VERY quickly. Even as someone being “in” on the story, it looks shady. I just didn’t like her as a heroine for a romance. No matter what - even from a fiction only perspective - she just came across as selfish and inconsiderate of Grant. She worried about taking advantage of staying with him too long, but not about taking advantage of him as a person.
